Byteboard has redesigned the interview experience to be more effective, efficient, and equitable for all. The Byteboard interview is a take home exercise where candidates work on technical design and coding tasks as part of a small project. The interview materials are evaluated against structured rubrics and a report is generated outlining the candidates strengths. Byteboard's project-based interview is identity-blind and assesses for real engineering skills while helping companies reduce the time they spend in conducting interviews. Byteboard has improved onsite to offer rates by more than 2x for companies like Lyft, Figma and Betterment. Founders Sargun Kaur and Nikke Hardson-Hurley were working at Google when they recognized a fundamental problem in the way technical engineering interviews were being conducted. They thought engineers should be judged by their ability to code and perform on the job and not by their ability to study and replicate obscure algorithms on a whiteboard.
